Now that we've arrived and checked into the hotel, I'm able to tell about the infuriating and terrifying 20 hours between the time that Andrew realized his passport had expired and the time of our international flight. Four reminders: One, fact-checking saves — time, money, relationships; two, with enough money, you can get anything you want on short notice; three, bureaucracy can work for you, especially given reminder two; and four, 24-hour access to anything and everything is a gift not to be taken for granted. It also helps to live in a city that has a federal passport office.
