4.25.2006 | Ferdinand I am
I quit my job just in time for spring. Blossoms were just filling out and suddenly I had the time notice them all, to notice wave after wave of fluffiness and fragrance and the subtle warming of the light and temperature. My evening runs through the neighborhood have been downy with the season.
I've slept much and keep on sleeping, which has reduced the amount of work I do at the remaining job. I didn’t realize how tired I was. My hunch is that this will take some time to recover from.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying a rebound bohemia. I’m doing yoga twice weekly and attending a friend’s meditation class. I returned to Chado and I started cello lessons.
I’d say it’s a rare event to begin something completely new as an adult, but playing the cello is a completely foreign activity. I’ve never played a stringed instrument; I have to learn it all: how to hear the notes, how to bow and press the strings, and how to read music. So far, playing is fun and challenging and fatiguing—and painful.
