As he signed the letter, the one I wrote and which he embellished and edited, he said, "Let me show you a little trick I learned from one of my schizophrenic patients."

We all stopped eating and watched as he folded the letter the special way he likes to fold them and slipped it into the envelope. He spread the flap wide open and unfurled his plump and slick tongue and licked a wide stripe across the back side of the envelope, into which he swiftly pressed the flap.

"How come I never thought to do it that way?"
