Dave was here for a few days.

We ate out and in.
We shopped a little bit.
We had people in for tea.
We visited his family.
We ate our way through the Puyallup Fair.
We rented Pi.
We ate breakfast with one of my new friends.

Then I put him on a plane and came home to sleep, for we hadn't really slept the entire time he was here. I slept and read and watched the shadows elongate in the breeze. Finally, a bike ride through the locks and over Magnolia. The sun had already set by the time I coasted down from the hill. I rode along Dexter in the dark.

Now it is Tuesday and I'm where I always am which is halfway between. It is fall. A year ago I lived here temporarily. Today is warm and for once I am not cold sitting here at this computer. Instead, I am thirsty.

And I miss him. Here and gone so fast that only now I am used to his being here; and his departure, two days ago, is emerging poignant.
