11:39pm Helen, There have been helicoptors circling above my apartment with search lights for the last 5 hours. I have been on the net trying to ascertain the cause. (interruption) Several tear gas bombs just were fired, sounded like they are East of Broadway, maybe on 15th & madison? This is the first time Ive heard the helicopters east. They have been hovering over broadway until now. I feel like Bernard Shaw (CNN). Apparently there have been confrontations all night. There were several teargas bombs going off at about 930pm as well. A police car was surrounded. There was an armored truck driving down broadway. The bombs were a bit disruptive for bookclub. When the girls left, a guy came into the apartment building looking very distressed... (more bombs just now) telling everyone to be careful. There was teargas everywhere. Huge clouds of it. The girls looked a little worried. I said "Good luck!" Hmm... more noises. Can't tell if that's vandals smashing things or more teargas. Dammit I need a tv! The damned NPR personalities are too buzy asking each other for their esteemed opinions that they are forgetting to cover the actual goings on. dammit another bomb. I think the tear gas is proving to be pretty useless. another bomb. I shall go to sleep counting protesters jumping over armored tanks. sweet dreams! I'd stop counting but it is pretty amazing how much is being fired. in the last 15( bomb) minutes. bomb. So how's phinney Ave? 2 more I hear cars starting and I can't help wondering if some of my neighbors are leaving the area. bomb. I just looked out the window and I can see the flashes.
