Could you let me know if you're having trouble distinguishing between the text and the background color? If you are, it would be helpful if you could provide me with a specific entry and tell me what it looked like to you so I can compare it with what it looks like to me. Also, it would be nice to know what browser, computer brand (Apple/PC), or anything else you're using that might interpret things differently than my system. Thanks! -H

Stayed indoors all day today. Surprised? There was no reason to go out really, except maybe to take advantage of the grocery store, but we did that yesterday and why move about if you don’t have to? So we took turns on the computer, did some reading, napped, ate, etc. *yawn* My life is so exciting. :-)
Morrissey’s crooning in the CD Player now. Dave’s playing one of his strategy games and, you know, I’m really impressed with the set-up he’s got going. In our spare room - now open and empty since Mary’s departure - he’s got his stuff all laid out on the wall-length short cabinet, with a lit candle on one side and a smoldering incense stick on the other. It’s just so… cute how he creates a comfortable atmosphere for one of his favorite activities.
I spent a lot of time working on the Peacemaker page today. It’s gonna be quite awhile before it’s ready to upload. The irony is that it looks so simple and it’s frustrating that the end result won’t reflect the time it took to create it.
Read an article titled Western Feminist Perspectives on Prostitution which was exactly what I was looking for on the topic. Prostitution is one area where I just haven’t been able to take a stand yet. There seems to be no theory that I can agree with completely, and so it has been difficult to align myself with one camp. This little paper briefly explained each position and then pointed out the flaws in each. So, I guess I still can’t join a group but I feel more validated in my original fence straddling. Now I can say, at least, why I don’t belong on one side or the other.
Started reading A Confederacy of Dunces today. In it is the namesake for this journal. I’m already captivated and laughing out loud. As usual, I’m mystified by the brilliance of a mind that can combine words so well as to elicit images and to animate characters with such clarity and originality; yet they are familiar and readers can easily parallel those descriptions with characters or scenes from their own experiences. I guess that’s why it won the Pulitzer Prize.
Here’s my favorite two sentences from today’s start:
The voluminous tweed trousers were durable and permitted unusually free locomotion. Their pleats and nooks contained pockets of warm, stale air that soothed Ignatius.
Hahaha! See what I mean?
