03.31.2009 | Goal!
This entry makes a month! It actually went by quickly and was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Although, many of the entries don't say much. Ah, well. I'm kind of in a groove with posting, so I think I'll try to continue. Today I am setting up a new laptop I got for work. The old one, three and a half years old, is just too fragile, and just too heavy, to travel with us. I joke with folks that it's geriatric and doesn't adjust well to being moved, which is true. I leave it docked lest it forget its network connections and go to sleep. This new one is small, light, and silent. Perfect! Also, this is the first time I've had a computer that runs Windows Vista. I've been around the operating system plenty, but I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous to run it. I don't know anyone who has escaped network connectivity and network and file access problems. Seems the security services included with the operating system run rogue and configuration settings are obscured from users. People report updating their computers with Windows Update only to discover that they can no longer connect to the T-1 at the office, any number of Web sites, or download e-mail in Outlook. Someone today said she couldn't save Word docs. And recently, another person hasn't been able to use Internet Explorer because every time he types an address into the address bar the browser crashes. So frustrating. Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed.
