In the news, a lot of mass violence that is outside the realm of wars. Seems to come in waves, not necessarily copycats, but something of a mindset or the sun's slow sliding up the meridian. It'll pass, but today was strange. Today, for example, a surprising vitriol among coworkers, some with humor and some utterly lacking it. And then there are the headlines. Murder suicides: locate one in your area. North Korea, apparently starved for attention, lobs a dud in tantrum. Nice week for contemplating the mechanisms of masochism.

... And yet, outside it is so bright and carefree, the soft warm air a hug.
