4.22.2002 | Ashtanga

It’s a rest day and I needed a stretch so I went to the gym for the 1:20 P.M. yoga class and got treated—twisted, wrung out—to an Ashtanga class. Just when I needed some quiet, meditative stretching—What ever happened to Hatha yoga?—I got my heart pulled up through my throat and dragged around my back to hold the big fat toe over the hip in a half-lotus. Who knows in what ways the parts went! It’s a wonder they’re attached in the same way they were when I went in.
