Lots of things to be done but no frame for doing them. So they sit on my mind, little anxieties pulling at unadulterated pleasure like fingers at taffy. I completed nothing today. This feels like it sounds and I predict a spate of productivity tomorrowjust enough to stave off guilt through the weekend. Last night I rode the bike to Pam's and back in the prelude to a series of storms predicted to hit the area. Even then, the rain yet wispy, wind gusts shoved the bike with balance-threatening force. Overnight the weather worsened and in daylight today the rain alternated between a light drizzle and pounding rain. Early evening, the wind picked up more. Andrew and I were looking through Google search strings referring this site (and getting some good laughs) when the powerpole in the alley beside my apartment building began fireworking. Subsequent eruptions made it look like the line between the complex and the pole was smacking against the streetlight affixed to the pole and setting off a charge. I called Seattle City Light to report the problem, then rang the building owners to let them know their building was attached to a decompensating wire. I left for work and returned a few hours later to a hardhatted man examining the line from his cherry picker. It looked like he fiddled with the set up a bit. In fifteen minutes he and his rig were gone. Haven't seen sparks since. Now it's really stormy. The windows are rattling and every so often the wind roars through them. It's definitely breezy in here. I'm looking forward to another structureless day tomorrow. Lots to do, all of it potentially completed from this very seat. I won't have to leave the house at all. |
